CMS Training: Broadcast Alerts

Transcript

Crisis and urgent communications are inevitable. But that’s why we have created Broadcast Alerts.

The idea behind Alerts is to be able to send an urgent message out to impacted employee groups as quickly as possible.

To send one of these messages, you’ll go to Broadcast Alerts in your main navigation menu. From here, click the red button and type out your message. Then select the group or groups that the message is for. Unlike regular posts, these will automatically have a push notification assigned, and there are no other options to enable.

When an alert is sent, it will live in this alerts page, which you access via the bell icon in the web or mobile app.

These alerts are strictly text based and can accommodate up to 2,500 characters. But we recommend keeping them short since most phones only display the first 117 characters, which you’ll see in the preview box here.

Common uses of alerts include: severe weather advisories, urgent supply recalls, or important, timely reminders for need-to-know messages like a reminder about the last day to enroll in benefits during open enrollment.

Next we’ll review how to use the directory.
